Yo tam
bién he leído "Un lugar llamado Oreja de Perro". Es una verguenza. Fácil es la historia más banal, más ridícula, que se haya escrito hasta ahora con el trasfondo de la violencia y el trabajo de la CVR.
Este tema lo había trabajado con sus más y sus menos Cueto en "La hora azul" (los dos libros de Roncagliolo sobre este tópico ni siqiera habría que tomarlos en cuenta, pues fueron hechos para la venta, para la gente ligera que busca temas de moda). Si los andinos salieron a dar fuete a los criollos (representados por Cueto) por sus ligerezas y simplificaciones, ahora simplemente -con esto de Thays- tienen para darle una paliza descomumnal.
¿Qué dirá ahora Faverón, que es el supuesto estudioso de estos asuntos, pero también amigo por interés de Thays? ¿Tendrá la osadía de defender lo indefendible, o simplemente se hará el loco -no lo tengo, no me llegó- para no perder relaciones? Ahora es que realmente se verá si es el crítico acucioso y serio que dice que es. (THANK POR LA FOTO)

Thays está acabado para la literatura: ha madurado como lector y se ha dado cuenta de que como escritor es un gran bloggero informativo.
Que cage de risa, hasta me he caido de la silla, y aca en el mercioco todos se han ganado con la foto. Hasta ahora no hay duda que este es el post del año, por lo menos para mi.
Thays es que sus esfuerzos notorios por hacerse de un hueco en la mafia literaria internacional emergente son casi encomiables. Si no ha logrado a los 40 años demostrar que es un gran escritor, por lo menos habrá demostrado que es un formidable intrigante y sobón, un oportunista con talento, de tal modo que el sitio que ha logrado en la "blogalazia", a punta de mordidas y codazos, le pertenece por derecho propio. Cueto y Ronca tienen premios en España, Thays es citado en un cintillo de una editorial íbera y él mismo toma la foto y se autoelogia. ¿No es para llorar? Pero si eso te gusta, buena tío. Pero acepta que los premios que logran los más vivos de tus congéneres son incomparablemente mejores que tus tristes consuelos.
Muy pronto sepa qué crítico literario peruano residente en estados unidos alienta el desempleo y la vagancia con oscuros fines. No se lo pierda!!!
Thays ya no sabe de qué hablar. Ahora resulta que es relacionista público de los cronistas que salen en Babelia (villanueva, robles, Toño angulo), todos de Etiqueta Xeroxs.
Thays es la Pepa Baldessari de las letras peruanas. Adivinen por qúe....
Nunca es tarde para hacerse de un lugar en la famiglia de las letras peruanas, que Thays esté por los cuarenta no significa nada, sino vean a Cueto que recién a los 50 años empezó a cosechar los frutos de su franela. Pronóstico: Thays gana el Herralde el próximo año. Es lo menos que puede hacer Jorge Herralde para pagarle a Iván sus servicios de publicidad y promoción (sólo le falta ponerse a atender en el stand de Anagrama en la feria del libro).
Yo no digo nada porque Iván, as de las comunicaciones digitales, me ha enviado la novela en formatos absolutamente incomputables para mis precarios ordenadores, así que hasta ahora no la he podido ver y recién este 16, que llego a Lima para quedarme un mes, le podré echar mano en la primera librería que me salga al paso.

"A mí lo que más me sorprende es que, sin negar que es un plagio obvio según los datos presentados, la versión de Neruda parece más una edición del poema que un plagio. Es decir, Neruda le hizo un favor a Macau porque la verdad que su poema es intrascendente, pero con los cortes y ligeras modificaciones de don Pablo el poema adquirió verdadera dimensión. Ya sé, es políticamente incorrecto decir lo que acabo de decir. Pero eso es lo que suele suceder cuando un estupendo autor plagia a un autor mediocre".

Esa foto salio hace meses en Somos. El libro que tiene Thays es un libro de cuentos de Watanabe.
Iván Thays es un escritor mediano para bajo, pero un gran intrigante, capaz de engañar a muchos (para su desgracia no a todos) con sus poses y sus comentarios cargados de sutil veneno. Una vez Coral lo amenazó con pegarle delante de todo el mundo en la feria si no dejaba de hablar mal de él, y saben lo que hizo? Le sacó un post relamido a Corral, ese es un escritor que se precie? No jodan, pues. Lean a Zambra.
En la sección "El misterio de la poesía" de la revista Caretas de esta semana (edición 2057), el señor Adolfo Polack (mucho gusto) ha tenido por bueno utilizar un poema de mi libro Parabellum para hacer su excelente trabajo. Ayer dio los resultados y publicó una enterada nota sobre mí y mis libros. Gracias por todo a él y a la gente de la revista.
Cuettone se pasó años maleteando a Bayly (de puro envidioso), hasta que por fin, su persistencia y excelencia en la labor de Felpudo No 1 de MVLL le abrieron las puertas del mercado editorial. Entonces, se relajó y hasta se dignó a reconocer a Bayly como un buen periodista y entrevistador.
Su socio Thays, pasó por lo mismo. Ahora que finalmente le llegó su momento de fama internacional (años de sobadera a Jorge Herralde, que Anagrama es lo maximo, etc) probablemente la Pelucona también se relajará y empezará a querer hacerle la patería a Bayly, entre otras cosas porque se muere de ganas de salir en su programa)
Lo que no sabe ese Gago con Orejas de Perro, es que Bayly es recontra, pero recontra picón y resentido, y jamás va a olvidar quiénes lo maletearon y quiénes son sus amigos. Además de que sería muy aburrido tener que soplarse una entrevista al "polizonte" de la narrativa iberoamericana, quien, pa concha, habla con frenillo.
¿Un escritor llamado Oreja de Perro? ¿O un Perro que escribe con las orejas?
Yo diría que se trata de una Perra dispuesta a que se la metan hasta por las Orejas con tal de ser reconocido como escritor.

THays hablaba que le apestaba la narrativarealista y ahora toca un tema sobre sendero. Cualquier cosa con tal de ganar y seguir en la colada.
Nuestro dandy Iván Thays, celebra ser finalista del Herralde, cuando Jaime Bayly lo ha ganado sin subcripciones o elogios por doquier a la Editorial (lo digo por su humildad ante el Premio), y aunque Bayly escribe sumamente ligero posee algo que no tiene Thays, tiene una lectura entretenida y una escritura rápida sin estancamientos como los posee nuestro dandy de corazón peninsular. Así que aconsejenle a Thays que le pida disculpas a Bayly por criticarlo porque fácilmente podría darle lecciones de literatura creativa.
"Salazar": mi sincera impresión después de leer tu mensaje es que eres un pobre diablo, de modo que sería una pérdida de tiempo responderte. Sólo quiero hacerte notar que hay que ser un cretino para criticar negativamente el premio que un escritor obtiene con una novela, a partir de tus seudo-juicios acerca de otra.

¿Cuál fue el primer libro que recuerdas entre tus manos y qué sensación te causó?
Bueno, recuerdo muchos libros de cuentos infantiles, en especial de Hans Christian Andersen, pues era el nombre de mi colegio y me intrigaba. Pero el primer libro que realmente recuerdo en mis manos es del cura franciscano Francis Finn, en realidad una saga de libros sobre alumnos de un colegio. Cada novela estaba dedicada a un alumno, y las historias se entrecruzaban. Inspirado por ella, estando en tercero de media, escribna novela llamada Diego Swann sobre un supuesto alumno de esa escuela. Lo más extraó es que terminé esa novela y hasta le hice una carátula.

¿Tienes hábitos y costumbres a la hora de escribir? ¿Cuáles son tus horarios?
Antes de escribir: Hacer un soundtrack del libro que estoy escribiendo, ver muchas películas que me recuerdan a la novela, tomar muchas notas. Mientras escribo: comer uvas frías. Y no hay horario, desde luego, siendo un hombre de tres trabajos al día y con un hijo que cae de improviso en mi casa los días de semana el fijarme un horario es una utopía que no me puedo permitir, o me volvería loco.

¿Qué recomendaciones o consejos le darías a aquellas personas que se están iniciando en la narrativa?
Que le recen al Dios de la Persistencia (lo he repetido mucho, pero es que no sé qué mejor consejo darles) y que, como dijo Puig, escriban solo sobre aquello en lo que se sienten testigos privilegiados.

¿Cómio nació el proyecto de novelar sobre la época de la violencia interna en el país?, ¿fue algo planificado o las cosas se fueron dando a través del tiempo?
Yo no he intentado novelar la violencia interna del país. Ese tema está en la obra como parte de un contexto, como la Guerra de Troya es parte de la Iliada. Pero la Iliada trata sobre un hombre-dios, loco e iracundo, que está enamorado de su mejor amigo y que se venga de un buen hombre porque no puede vengarse contra los dioses. Y mi novela trata sobre un hombre nomás que pierde a un hijo y a una mujer.

Una reseña aparecida en España afirma que la visión que presenta la novela sobre la violencia terrorista es una mirada intimista y subjetiva. ¿Digamos que ese es el giro de tuerca que le das en tu obra al tema de la violencia interna en el Perú?
Ver la respuesta anterior. No es que yo mire de manera \"intimista y subjetiva\" los años de violencia. Simplemente, esos años se cruzan en el conflicto interno del personaje, como se cruzaron en nuestras vidas.

Desde Las fotografías de Francis Farmer hasta Un lugar llamadoOreja de Perro, podemos hablar de una evoloción que va desde una suerte de falta de referente peruano en tus textos hasta tocar un tema bastante crudo y descarnado como el de la violencia terrorista, ¿qué debemos esperar en tus próximos libros los lectores peruanos?
Bueno, al menos mis protagonistas femeninas ya tienen nombres más reales. Y ya no pienso volver a esa prosa casi poética de mis primeras novelas. \"El sol, algo que suele suceder...\" Ya nunca más escribiré así. Lo que pueden esperar es la novela nueva que terminé asi el mismo día que supe que fui finalista del Herralde. Y creo que es lo mejor que he escrito en mi vida, aunque no sabría si mi opinión al respecto signifique o valga algo en realidad.

Uno de los fenómenos de la literatura peruana de los 90: el narrador "light" con hambre de reconocimiento y dispuesto a cualquier cosa para lograrlo el "éxito", esta representado mejor que nadie por Ivan Thays, que había llegado a la cuarentena con un par de libros hechos con plomo, pese a ser "lights", y con una enorme capacidad y experiencia en el arte de la autopromoción. Hoy presenta una nueva novela (dedicada a la "violencia", tema de moda entre los "lights") y esto es motivo para que, otra vez, exhiba su incontrolable y casi obscena capacidad para hablar de sí mismo. Estamos ante un auténtico fenómeno y, como se impone sin ningún pudor ni escrúpulo, y hay que padecerlo, pues estudiémoslo en todos sus aspectos. Muchos de los que sufren su babeante autoadoración estamos seguros que harán una "pichanguita" y contribuirán al esfuerzo. El espécimen vale la pena. Nadie como Thays para exhibir las capacidades y los limites de una banda de escritorzuelos ambiciosos y sin recursos creativos, pero duchos en intrigas político-culturales y en el dominio de los nuevos modos de publicidad y autopromoción, como son los blogs e internet, lo que les ha servido para hacerse de un nombre en la descocada aldea rimense (aunque pujan por existir en Madrid). Thays fue durante mucho tiempo, junto con Gustavo Faverón, el muchacho de los mandados de la mafia literaria peruana enquistada en el diario El Comercio y que encabezaban, y encabezan todavía, Alonso Cueto y Fernando Ampuero. Aunque trabajo les ha costado, ambos, Thays y Faverón, hoy forman parte de la mafia por derecho propio. La mafia "regia", "blanca" o "criolla", como se quiera, clasista y belicosa en la defensa de sus fueros, ha perdido por ahora El Comercio, pero aún le queda Caretas. A Thays y a Faveron les quedan, ademas, sus blogs, convertidos en "poderosas" baterías para echarse flores, para ensalzar a sus amigos y benefactores, y, siempre, siempre, para escupir al aire... contra sus enemigos.
Aún no lo tengo confirmado, pero todo parece indicar que el viernes 19 estaré en alguna mesa redonda, o conversatorio, o algo parecido, en algún lugar de Lima. Ya les cuento.

Fui ayer a tu presentacion y me gusto mucho, al llegar me dio ganas de tomar algo y me apunte con una zenda personal de 8 lucas, quedando casi misio.
El universo me retribuyo luego esta iniciativa, con 3 pisco sours, ademas de varias causitas y chicharron de calamar con langostino. Gracias, eres un buen anfitrion.
Me gustaron mucho todos los discursos, no te salude por que no tenia mucho que decirte, aun no he acabado tu novela, recien voy por la pagina 30, y bueno no queria interrumpirte tampoco por que estabas con hartos amigos y familiares. Disculpa si no te salude, fue por respeto y un poco de timidez, a lo mejor habras pensado que hace este en mi presentacion y ni me saluda (un momento antes del discurso estuvimos cerca), disculpa no hubo mala intencion, si no algo de timidez, y ademas como te dije no te podia decir nada pues este libro es el primero tuyo que leo y como aun no lo termino pues no podia comentarte mucho.

Pero se puede.

Acabo de leer la última novela de Thays. No es mala, es increíblemente mala. Sin duda lo peor -de lejos- que ha publicado.
Empieza mal y rápidamente se va convirtiendo en un culebrón insoportable, con personajes absolutamente inverosímiles y estereotipados: el fotógrafo enano con nombre de mafioso, la mujer embarazada que es medio astróloga y que tira con cualquiera, los antropólogos pitucos de la Católica, todo. Lo de la referencia a la Comisión de la Verdad es cualquier cosa, pero lo peor es el supuesto núcleo de la historia, que es predecible a más no poder: cualquiera se da cuenta de quién es el asesino....
La verdad, hice un gran esfuerzo para terminar de leer. Tenía la esperanza que en algún momento algo salvara a ese cúmulo de erorres de topo tipo, pero nada.
Thays antes tenía cierta gracia en el lenguaje, cierta elegancia que hacía tolerable su visión inmadura, engreída, del mundo (porque otra vez aparece aquí el patita soberbio pero confundido que le tiene ascos a todos y se enamora en dos segundos de tipas que no conoce y que no tienen ninguna consistencia de níngún tipo). Ahora en cambio ya no hay nada de ese lenguaje y lo que queda es esa mirada banal, casi infantil. ¿Quién le puede creer una sola palabra a ese seudo periodista? ¿Puede creérsele algo a alguien que dice- porque solo lo dice - que sufre por la muerte de su hijo y la separación de su mujer mientras vive un romance de pacotilla con un par de desconocidas? ¿Dónde queda el tema de los muertos, de los hombres y mujeres ultrajados y desaparecidos durante el conflicto? Todo es un decorado acomodaticio, puesto de manara oportunista para hablar de un asesinato de cómic, irreal...
Alguien ha escrito por ahí que es una novela de "una infinita tristeza de la primera a la última página". Yo no sentí nada ni me creí nada. La única tristeza posible es la de ver a alguien con algún talento- muy inferior a lo que él siempre ha creído de sí mismo, por cierto- que de pronto se ha quedado sin nada que ofrecer.
Abril Rojo, que a mí me pareció un libro instrascendente y marketero, me ha resultado infinitamente mejor que esta tremenda desbarrada de Thays.
No tengo la menor duda de que el libro quedó finalista porque su autor en amigo del organizador y patrocinador del premio. No hay otra explicación. Y si se ha puesto de manera excepcional a tres finalistas más, es simplemente para no hacer roche.
Definitivamente, Agreda tiene la palabra.
Acabo de leer la novela de Thays. Ligera (para dar una idea, lectura de supermercado). Sus post iracundos son infinitamente más densos y cuidados. Pretende una conciencia social que no tiene (en eso es inferior por lejos a Cueto)y, francamente, por su estilo pobre parece escrita por sus enemigos. Tan mala es que Favi no la pudo leer ni en el avión
